Mauritius is a beautiful place. It is the perfect to spend a few days relaxing, enjoying the beach and doing some water sports activities.
Being there was like a dream for me : the crystal clear water, the beach, the palm trees, waking up to the sounds of the waves, sitting down my book facing the beach, oh I loved it.
The Shandrani Resort and Spa :
Shandrani Resort & Spa is a really nice place to stay. It has beaches in three directions. Around the main center, most of the people with kids stays and there is a lot of nice activities to do. The pool is large and the beach is shallow and calm so very safe.
On the other side, you have a fantastic beach overlooking the ocean and nice waves coming into the beach.
Additionally, the island is not easy to navigate. So, renting a car is a great idea as it allows to truly experience the island has to offer. Hiking at le Pouce, le Moune, The Black River, exploring different beaches, snorkeling, horseback riding and many hidden waterfalls to swim in and breathtaking views.
However, the hotel is located close to the airport. So during the day, planes are taking off right above your head. I thought at the beginning it would be annoying however it was totally fine. The first time a plane goes over it is admittedly a bit of a shock, but after that you get used to it and indeed barely notice the planes (unless it’s an A380, but those are kind of exciting to watch out for).
The staff are incredible; helpful, friendly, lovely and nothing is too much trouble.
In conclusion, I wish we had stayed longer, the staff, service, food and location is amazing.
