During our stay in London, Meryl and I had the opportunity to stay at the Shangri-La London.
“Situated in the heart of historic London, the elegant Shangri-La Hotel At The Shard is the city’s first elevated hotel offering exciting dining options, luxurious bedrooms, and panoramic views over the city”.
Completely incredible and everything you’d expect from a Shangri-la hotel in the Shard building. 5* all round.
Great location, fantastic staff, extremely well appointed and finished, and superb facilities.
Check in was a breeze and the lady who welcomed us, showed us our room. She was very friendly, polite and professional at all times. She stayed just long enough to show us how to use the shutter blinds, and no longer, perfectly reading our desire to get settled in and relax. The rooms aren’t huge, but certainly big enough, with a spacious bathroom complete with a bath with an incredible view.
The hotel is seamlessly fitted in a modern style with elegant dimmed lighting and spotless throughout. The bed was nicely firm, extremely comfortable and very big.
We even had a powerful pair of binoculars in the room and a viewing guide. What we appreciated was the fact, they certainly didn’t cheap out on the extras. Nice toiletries, awesome mini-bar, a Nespresso machine (with coffee) a fridge full of beers and wine and even champagne !!
The breakfast was delicious, you have plenty of choices from croissants, cheese, jam…etc.
There’s also an infinity pool on the top floor of the hotel. 53 I think (note, that’s not the top floor of the building), which is great for a relaxing dip with awesome views. There’s also free tea and coffee here too. A great place to relax before dinner.
If you are ever looking for a great view from The London Eye to the Tower Bridge, hospitality service at the top, great attention to details in the room as well as in the lounge, this is definitely the place to stay.
