Discover Greece : The beauty of Milos

by Hélène

It doesn’t matter how many times I have been to a specific country – or how many times I have seen the exact same spot- because every single time, I experience it in a different way.

This is why when Meryl and I got the opportunity to go back to Milos with Discover Greece,  I was really excited about this trip.

Discover with me, my favorite spots, how to get to Milos, where to eat and where we stayed at :

My favorite spots :

Plaka Village :

Plaka is the island’s capital and one of the most intact capitals of Cyclades. For me, it is definitely my favorite village in Milos. I loved watching the sunset from the Venetian « Castle » where you have a panoramic view of Milos and neighboring Cycladic Island.

Sarakiniko beach :

Sarakiniko is an unusual beach with incredible landscapes. You really feel in another world with its white volcanic rocks.

The name of Sarakiniko comes from the Saracene pirates who used this area as a base.

Firiplaka beach :

This beach is probably the only one with a bar and some facilities and big enough for everyone.

Tsigrado Beach :

Located right next to Firiplaka, Tsigrado beach is a small sandy cove with crystal water.  However, going down this beach is a bit difficult because we had to pass through a rocky passage to get there. The surrounding environment with the rocky cliffs is quite impressive.

How to get to Milos

By Air :

On the way to Milos, we flew from Paris to Athens and then Athens to Milos. Aegean Airline flies from 9 French cities to 5 Greek destinations.

By Boat :

On the way back, we took a speedboat from Milos to Athens and then the day after Athens to Paris. The boat was operated by  Sea jets

Best way to discover Milos  :

Renting a vehicle is definitely a must-do, whether it’s a scooter or a car or an ATV, if you want to get around the island, you’ll need one.

We used The Milos Rent car.

Where we stayed at  :

Milos Breeze boutique Hotel in Polonia

Website | Facebook | Instagram

Perched on a cliff offering panoramic sea views, the Milos Breeze Boutique Hotel is located in Pollonia and has an incredible overflow pool and beautiful rooms.

I cannot recommend enough this hotel, the staff was amazing and super helpful and we loved the view from the room.

Where to eat :

Restaurants I can recommend  :

  • Armenaki fish tavern in Polonia : a seafood, Mediterranean greek restaurant.
  • Barriello in Tripiti: a healthy and tasty Mediterranean restaurant.
  • Gialos in Pollonia: traditional recipes with modern cuisine always based on quality products.
  • Navagio in Adamas : a seafood restaurant.

Love your post. I will be travelling with my hubby back to the Greek Islands next June. We really enjoyed spending some time in Parokia , Paros and beach hopping on an ATV. We want to have the same experience in Milos. I am debating whether we should stay in Plaka , Adamia or Pollonia. Is it possible to get around on an ATV?

Hii Rebeca, thank you for your lovely comment !
Yes definitely it is possible to get around on an ATV. The first time I went to Milos (it was back in June) we rented an ATV with my friend and it was awesome ! (we rented our ATV in Adamia) Roads are not too bad and the island is super small so you won’t have any problems. Just download an offline map just in case you get lost.
Let me know if you need more infos, I will be happy to answer.
